INDPA began as a local PASS (Professional Association of SQL Server) chapter in 2014. After several years they hosted the first SQL Saturday Spokane on the Eastern Washington University campus in 2018. The official 501c6 comprising the Inland Northwest Data Professionals Association was formed in the December after their second SQL Saturday in 2019. With the dissolution of PASS in 2020, INDPA is an independent professional association dedicated to helping grow the skills and careers of our community by offering training, mentorship and moral support.
About the INDPA Board
Josh has been a database administrator since 2013. They are the current President of the Inland Northwest Data Professionals Association which grew out of the local PASS chapter they led from 2014 to 2020 and SQL Saturday Spokane (2018-2019). Josh is most passionate about automating data tasks and data governance. In their spare time Josh is a photographer and assistant aikido instructor.

Adam has been a backend developer since 2013. He stumbled on NoSQL Distilled in college and fell in love with working with data. As a dev, this love of data has resulted in a wide variety of career choices such as working on complex data frameworks for search to building out large scale data pipeline applications. When not working or chasing his two children around, he loves board games and miniatures war games.
Jeff Mergler has been a full stack coder for over 27 years for the company he helped found back in 1993. His experience with SQL Server includes working on modern SQL Server but also as far back as SQL Server 2000 and all the versions in between. Jeff also dabbles in Oracle SQL and
does front end development in Microsoft ASP.NET. Jeff loves the learning opportunities and camaraderie of SQL Saturdays! Outside of work Jeff enjoys rock climbing, cycling and martial arts.
Sam has been working in and around data for the past 30 years. After moving from Seattle to Spokane in 2017, he attended his first SQL Saturday where he became enthralled by a presentation on R. This one SQL Saturday experience has led to work and study in programmatic data analysis, data science, and data engineering and his involvement with the local data community.
